Sam Ng

Born in Hong Kong, Sam Ng now lives and works in London. Growing up in a fast-paced city, Sam is acutely aware of the passage of time and has learned how to capture the essence of ordinary moments and imbue them with a sense of beauty and meaning to preserve the fleeting emotions within a still frame.

Sam uses painting as a medium to sculpt time, creating works incorporating both the future and the past. His practice captures the essence of both significant and mundane elements, giving form and shape to the lightness and weight of everyday life. Painting becomes a way to capture the significance of the ephemeral in everyday life, to keep the present unravelled in its most vibrant form—not merely depicting what has happened, but conveying its significance to him. In his reveries, nothing in reality has changed, but everything exists differently under his portrayal of the small and trivial things. There is a story in every piece; it is the story of a single thing and the story of everything.

Sam Ng graduated with first-class honours in BA (Hons) Fine Art from Central St Martin’s in 2022. He has had several shows around the UK, such as Innocent Pleasures Suit Me by Warbling in London and The Lido Open 22 in Margate.
