Saesam Jang

My work is about navigating the spaces where pain and resilience intersect, a journey to find my center. I’m drawn to what we usually hide—the bruises left by grief, identity, and survival. I use watercolor painting as a way to give these experiences a voice, making the invisible visible. Watercolor allows me to explore the fragility and unpredictability of emotion; as pigments flow and blend, they mimic the traces of memory and shadow that linger, the marks left by struggles we don’t always see. Each piece reflects the messiness and strength that can come from facing these moments directly. There’s an urgency in my work, a need to live openly and honestly, even with the scars. I hope that in bringing these emotions to light, I can connect with others who have felt the weight of silence and the drive to push through it, creating a space for honesty, a reminder of the beauty in not hiding what hurts, and a step toward finding balance.
