Rita Staszulonok is a full-time artist. Painting for her is a way of communicating with the world. For Rita, an artist is a filter that can create beauty from everyday life and banalities. Staszulonok tries to combine skill and genuine craft with experimentation and a fresh artistic vision. To accomplish her goals she relies on two pillars – tradition and innovation. In her art Rita attempts to bridge the gap between the present-day and the long-ago. She works in various techniques, but her favourite is the egg tempera on panel. It is an ancient technique used universally until the 15th century, which based on poudered pigments mixed with egg yolk. Staszulonok likes the craft aspect and the nobility of this medium. This medium allows her to create rich details and a lot of information onto small surface. Rita really likes the intensity and luminosity of colors in egg tempera. She also likes the craftsmanship aspect of this medium. In a way, it dictates the nature of the work, as the technological steps follow a specific sequence, which requires patience and is very meditative at the same time.
Rita Staszulonok – a full-time artist. Staszulonok graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Fine Arts, specializing in monumental and decorative art, gaining skills in the technique of stained glass, mosaic, fresco, sgraffito, drawing, oil and tempera painting. After two years of work as assistant lecturer, she obtained painting instructor position at the same college. Since 2010, Staszulonok has been living near Gdansk in Poland. Since 2013, she is a member of the Association of Polish Artists ZPAP. Rita is a winner of the Polish Minister of Culture Gaude Polonia Scholarship, the Cultural Scholarship of the City of Gdansk, the Creative Scholarship of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, and the Creative Scholarship of the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport. She is a participant of artistic residencies at Instituto Sacatar, Brazil and Can Serrat, Spain. Author of about 20 individual exhibitions, Rita took part in collective exhibitions in Uzbekistan, USA, Australia, Poland, Bulgaria, Denmark and Belarus.
