Charlie Yates

I am a Scottish artist currently doing a Masters in California. I specialise in oil painting and installation, drawing inspiration from personal journeys between Scotland. My work blends the essence of these diverse locations, often using a monochromatic palette and gritty textures to capture timeless moments in unfamiliar settings. Through the exploration of line, light, and old wood, I seek to evoke nostalgia and encourage personal reflection. Moving forward, I plan to reintroduce these same methods into landscape and cultural atmospheric preserves, bringing my approach full circle to honour natural and cultural environments.
